The Straitened Circumstances Fund

This fund gives small grants to individuals in need, for the purchase of essential items not supplied by the statutory agencies. It may gives grants for beds and bedding, cookers, refrigerators, washing machines, clothing and occasionally for carpets and flooring.

These grants are given on the recommendation of a social worker or similar professional and are paid to the referring agency. Grants are often allocated to someone who has recently been re-housed and who needs essential items to equip their new home, and who has been turned down for a loan due to their circumstances.

We are not able to deal directly with applicants, so any application must be through a social worker, community nurse or other similar professional agency.
